Well, she don't act cool and she don’t blow hot and cold
Her mystery not of high heels and eyeshadow
Well she laughs when she wants, like you do when you're five years old
She loves the faded colours of the dark, just like I do, like I do
She rocks, she swings, she delights in the faded things
Her mystery’s not of high heels and eye shadow
She laughs, she delights in the faded colors of night
Just like I do, just like I do
Well, she don't act cool, don’t act like a femme fatal
Her mystery’s not on high heels or eyes shadow
She laughs when she laughs, she's the breeze, she's the natural
She loves the faded colors of 3 a.m., just like I do
Jonathan Richman, 2001
One day I'll say / Woke up to find a heap of a mess / Running for the bus I’ll cry / Hold that bus called Happiness // Why am I so slow? / If I only knew / Say it isn't so / I wonder what I'd want without you // Through the back window / Thought I saw the color of her dress / Which way does it go / Well, buddy, that's the bus called Happiness […]

Lucky Man, The Verve, 1997
Happiness / more or less / It's just a change in me / Something within my liberty // Happiness coming and going / Watch my fever growing / I know just where I am // But how many corners do I have to turn / How many times do I have to learn / All the love I have is in my mind // Well, I'm a lucky man / Hope you understand the fire in my hand […]
Richard Ashcroft, 1997
April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain
May she will stay
Resting in my arms again
June, she'll change her tune
In restless walks she'll prowl the night
July she will fly
And give no warning to her flight
August, die she must
The Autumn winds blow chilly and cold
September I'll remember
A love once new has now grown old
Simon & Garfunkel, 1966
I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in...
Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in...
Saturday waits
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitates
I don't care if Monday's black
Tuesday, Wednesday heart attacks
Thursday never looking back
It's Friday I'm in...
Monday you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday watch the walls instead
It's Friday I'm in...
Saturday waits
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitates
Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday I'm in...
I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in...
Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in...

Fish (fly-replete, in depth of June,
Dawdling away their wat'ry noon)
Ponder deep wisdom, dark or clear,
Each secret fishy hope or fear.
Fish say, they have their Stream and Pond;
But is there anything Beyond?
This life cannot be All, they swear,
For how unpleasant, if it were!
One may not doubt that, somehow, Good
Shall come of Water and of Mud;
And, sure, the reverent eye must see
A Purpose in Liquidity.
We darkly know, by Faith we cry,
The future is not Wholly Dry.
Mud unto mud! -- Death eddies near --
Not here the appointed End, not here!
But somewhere, beyond Space and Time.
Is wetter water, slimier slime!
And there (they trust) there swimmeth One
Who swam ere rivers were begun,
Immense, of fishy form and mind,
Squamous, omnipotent, and kind;
And under that Almighty Fin,
The littlest fish may enter in.
Oh! never fly conceals a hook,
Fish say, in the Eternal Brook,
But more than mundane weeds are there,
And mud, celestially fair;
Fat caterpillars drift around,
And Paradisal grubs are found;
Unfading moths, immortal flies,
And the worm that never dies.
And in that Heaven of all their wish,
There shall be no more land, say fish.
Fish, Rupert Brooke, 1913
Something For The Weekend, The Divine Comedy, em 2004

[...] Oscar Wilde was a lonely child
He fought and won acceptance from the world
They smiled, they laughed, they praised
They drove poor Oscar to his grave [,,,]
Absent Friends, The Divine Comedy, em 2004
Era già l'ora che volge il disio
ai navicanti e 'ntenerisce il core
lo dì c'han detto ai dolci amici addio;
e che lo novo peregrin d'amore
punge, se ode squilla di lontano
che paia il giorno pianger che si more;
quand' io incominciai a render vano
l'udire e a mirare una de l'alme
surta, che l'ascoltar chiedea con mano.
Ella giunse e levò ambo le palme,
ficcando li occhi verso l'orïente,
come dicesse a Dio: 'D'altro non calme'.

A cultura popular do início deste séc. XXI fede !
